Please read this carefully before you subscribe, to make sure you understand this service.  By subscribing, you indicate that you have read and accepted these terms.

1.  Your Responsibilities

Your Password: As a subscriber, you are responsible for keeping your password secret.  Change your password immediately and notify support any time you think anyone else might have learned your password.  If you do not memorize your password, make sure it is written in a safe place.  Be sure to use a password that cannot be guessed, such as your birth date or pet's name, or any word found in a dictionary.

Your Information: You are responsible for keeping the personal information in your subscription (such as email address, mailing address, and phone) accurate and current.  You are also responsible for managing some of the other information in your account.  When you delete assignments and students, those records are erased, and sometimes cannot be retrieved.

2.  Support

EMusicTheory is not a business with a large staff.   Because of this limitation:

(i) Requests for support are normally answered via email within a few hours, but may take as long as 2 days.
(ii) Direct telephone support is not available (though we'll call you when it makes sense sort out a problem, and voicemail with callback is available for billing questions).
(iii) Commonly-asked questions are often answered in the "questions" column available on many pages — just click any of the listed questions to see the response.

3.  Disclaimer of Warranties

[Some legal mumbo-jumbo....  Summary: EMusicTheory WILL work to create a useful service that is reliable, error-free, and secure, but cannot guarantee that everything will always work, all of the time.  If you plan classtime working with your students on the website, you should have a backup plan just in case.]

EMusicTheory expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

EMusicTheory makes no warranty that

(ii) the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free,
(iii) the results that may be obtained from the use of the service will be accurate or reliable,

4.  Normal Termination of Your Account

Your subscription will end automatically when you reach the end of your paid months.  If you wish to end the subscription before that time, you may request a refund of the cost of any unused months that you have paid for.  Refunds are not available for any forced termination due to abuse (see below).  At the end of your subscription, your account information, including student lists, assignment details, and scores, will be available in electronic form (there may be a fee for this service).

Note: All normal contact is via email, but your phone number is important in case you are trying to reach us but our reply emails are lost/blocked (for example, because of an aggressive spam filter). Most teachers are never contacted by telephone or physical mail except by request.

I'm not in the US. Can I still subscribe?

Yes; our subscribing teachers are all over the world, including Japan, Italy, The Netherlands, China, Denmark, Thailand, Australia....

We accept online payments in a few different currencies (USD, CAD, GBP, EUR) but if your currency isn't listed, you can still subscribe. Online, just choose US dollars (and the currency of your credit card will be converted automatically).

Schools that pay with purchase orders and checks not in US dollars can use their local currency and an approximate currency conversion — we'll just adjust the time credited to your account based on the dollars we get after conversion and any bank fees (so your subscription might be a few days shorter or longer than you originally calculated).

I had an account a few years ago. Should I make a new one now to resubscribe?

It's better to reactivate the old account. Currently they are saved indefinitely.

You can recover your sign-in info through the "lost password" link on the sign-in page, or contact us. We can look you up based on your name and location.

My school will fund my subscription. What should I do here?

Create your account here first (or sign in if you already have an account). This will take you automatically to the payment page.

Next: at the top of the payment page, look for purchase order instructions. There's an order form you can print out, and a separate link you can pass on so they can access the order form themselves without signing in.

If they have any questions, they can contact us through this site, or use the contact info on the order form.
